OPA 2017-18 Week# 26 Feb.26-March 2

"I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination." ~ Jimmy Dean

Dear Parents and Students,

Please make sure daily math homework assignments are completed and turned in on time. When students are consistently not turning in their work, it adds up.  Then it becomes difficult for them to make it up on time. Please continue checking and signing your child's planner daily and ask them what they have learned in school.

    Dear Parents and Students,

Unfortunately Nordic Valley had to CANCEL our  5th and 6th grade ski trip, that was scheduled on Thursday, Feb 22nd due to NO SNOW.

We will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, Feb.14.  NO SODA, OR CANDY IS ALLOWED. A list of each student's name in our class was sent home last week. If your child is planning to bring a gift, please include everyone in our class.  If your child would like to participate in the “Clandestine Valentine” gift exchange, he/she may bring in a $1.00 wrapped gift for the drawing.  Only those students who bring in a gift will be able to participate.  Thank you for your generosity to our class.

Please review appropriate classroom behaviors with your child at home.  E.I. (expectation intervention...was previously referred to as detentions.)- After a student has been given
adequate warnings, a phone call home, and opportunities to correct their behavior.  Parents are asked to discuss the problem with their child and take whatever measures necessary to correct the behavior. If the behavior persists after 3 phone calls home, students will be given an E.I. which can be served from 3:05 until 3:45 p.m. on Thursdays with Ms. Chiang.  Intervention time will be spent practicing the four expectations, so as to prevent future infractions. Students who serve E.I.s will not be able to participate in the following month’s Aguilas activity.
