Weekly Update

"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.
The most certain way to succeed
is always to try one more time."  Thomas A. Edison

Dear Parents,

Please train your child to be proactive, and together, check his/her grades on Aspire each week.  Your child has learned how to log in to Aspire and how to print out his/her progress report in Math class. This is something that can be incorporated into your child's weekly home routine.  Students' planners also need to be signed everyday and your child should be reading daily for at least 20 minutes, and record their reading minutes in their planner.

Math
We are working on multiplying multi-digit whole numbers with standard algorithm. Please practice multiplication facts with your child at home. It is essential that students know their multiplication facts in order to do multiplication word problems, and multiply multi-digit whole numbers, or decimal numbers. Click the link "5th Grade Math Resources" to find math games/drills.  Please make fun math games/drills a part of your child's homework routine.

This week Prodigy will be on multiply 2 digits by 1 digit and 2 digits by 2 digits. We use Prodigy to practice math skills and concepts that we learned in math class. Please include Prodigy Math game in math homework routine daily.
